[The Taming of the Shrew] is blessed with a delightful cast, dominated by Richard Leebrick as Petruchio and Nancy Hopps as Kate. The two have worked together before, and their strengths are well-matched. Both are highly physical actors with excellent vocal skills and comic timing. We’re lucky to have them here in Eugene.

Hopps is a pleasant addition to the company. She has an animated air, a fine voice and an engaging persona. In several of the songs [in ACE’s “Lies & Legends: The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin.”] she is paired with Russell; it is a winning combination. The chemistry between them is evident.

Guest director Peter Anthony created a revision of this Shakespearean masterpiece that allowed the author’s revision and passion to emerge through the original eloquent dialogue…one change that made this production so enjoyable for the audience was the continual stage presence of the three witches who open the play.
