Let it go. Since stress is a huge trigger for cravings, learning to deal with it could potentially save you hundreds of calories a day. This will take some practice. You can try deep breathing or visualizing a serene scene on your own, or you can speed things up by buying one of the many CDs that teach progressive muscle relaxation. A good one is Relaxation/Affirmation Techniques, by Nancy Hopps

Hi Nancy!

Just wanted to let you know that I have been using your Deep Healing Sleep disc for a couple of weeks now, with astonishing results. I can’t tell you how lifesaving your techniques and presentation are. There are so few people who really understand the value of sleep and relaxation that I wanted to affirm your efforts to help people in those areas. I am probably going to get the Relax-Quick! CD as well, for use throughout the day.   I work in a stressful office and live in a city.

I have tried every kind of drug and herbal remedy on the market for my chronic insomnia, in addition to hypnosis, acupuncture, and solo meditation. None of these tools were able to remedy the root of the problem–my inability to relax and let go. After a lifetime with no stress-reduction techniques, my body and mind had forgotten how to release tension, and the buildup was ruining the quality of my life, even though I exercised regularly. There is something special about the way you present the information that you have to share. The techniques seem simple, and you would think you could do them one your own, but having your voice as a guide makes them much more effective. It’s easier if someone else is doing the driving, as it were. I had lost faith in my body’s ability to relax, but the soothing, practical, and effective techniques that you employ really do work. I was pretty hopeless and bitter about my insomnia and the medical profession’s response to it. In general people just don’t seem to understand what it does to a person to have chronic difficulty falling asleep.

I plan to use your CD regularly to increase my body’s capacity for overall relaxation and well-being. I think it is already helping me to be open to more joy in life, because I’m less burdened by chronic, overwhelming fatigue. Thank you so much.
