How were you drawn to Nancy’s work? About three years ago there was a lovely article in the Register Guard and it really told all about her. I had [breast] cancer at the time but it had not spread and I wasn’t really in need of, or didn’t think I was in need, of help at the time. But very shortly after that, Nancy had a CD signing over at Border’s bookstore and I was out of town…but I gave her a call because my cancer had spread and I was needing to start chemo. Nancy has given her time, passion and purpose to the members of Eugene Family YMCA for nearly 20 years. Most of that time she has been a volunteer leading EDGU, and bringing this gift to the people of our community because she cares so deeply about EDGU’s impact.  Her ability to lead so many forms of group exercise led her to eventually become a paid Y Staff Instructor as well.  (She also taught step and dance aerobics in years past, as well as CoreYoga/Pilates and EDGU now.)

Taking classes from Nancy is a pure treat. She has such a way of making each person in the room feel comfortable, safe, led, and supported. She speaks with imagery that touches your life and your heart as you move with her.  Nancy is a naturally warm and caring person. She leads her classes with her heart. No matter what class she is leading, she creates a smooth, easeful introduction, gently warming you into the workout (be it yoga, core pilates, EDGU) and builds into a strong, powerful, impactful experience; then she guides you back into a deeply relaxing place, a feeling of completion and contentment.  People always leave a class with Nancy feeling better than when they came in.
